Out — “radical Islam.” In — “conservative Islam.”
There may be no place in the earth for Tamerlan Tsarnaev.
One of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects has been dead more than two weeks after a dramatic showdown with police in Watertown, Mass., on April 19.
But officials and his family still don’t know where Tsarnaev, an ethnic Chechen who turned to conservative Islam, will be buried.
Exactly what is “conservative Islam”? Was Tamerlan self-radicalized into “conservative Islam,” LA Times? How about Hasan at Ft. Hood? Was he another “conservative Islamist” who committed “workplace violence?”
Matt Pearce is the reporter responsible for coining this new phrase. It’s reminscent of the time in 1990 or 1991 when the Communists were rebelling against Boris Yeltsin in Moscow. The mainstream media kept going out of its way to cast Yeltsin as the good guy and a liberal, which to be fair, he was the good guy in that fight. But to contrast Yeltsin with his Communist enemies, the MSM kept calling those Communists “conservatives.”
The rule with Matt Pearce and others of his ilk is that anything bad = “conservative.” Even when using that word makes no sense at all.
